Job Description

Home every night: a waste management contractor in Kariega needs a steady Code 10 driver for daily routes. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a waste management contractor on the Kariega side of Eastern Cape. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

  • Operate the truck-mounted crane to offload bricks or pallets
  • Report damaged goods or refused deliveries straight away
  • Deliver to shops, sites and homes on your route
  • Check the truck's oil, water, tyres and lights before leaving
  • Check the load against invoices before signing it out
  • Plan your drop order with the dispatch clerk each morning
  • Collect cash or cheques on COD deliveries and bank them correctly

What you need

  • Good knowledge of roads in and around the city
  • Valid Code 10 (C1) licence
  • Clean driving record
  • Friendly and professional with customers
  • At least 2 years driving rigid trucks
  • Honest with cash and customer goods

Nice if you have

  • Crane or HIAB operator certificate
  • Speaking local languages on township routes

On offer

  • Home every night
  • Overtime on month-end and peak days
  • Company-paid PrDP renewals

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): references from delivery or distribution jobs plus ID copy and proof of residence.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 10 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Kariega.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • If your PrDP expires soon, renew it before applying. An expired PrDP is an automatic no.
  • Mention cash handling if you have done COD deliveries. Honest cash drivers are what distributors worry about most.
