Job Description

Customers across Richards Bay wait on your truck, so a frozen food distributor needs someone reliable behind the wheel. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a frozen food distributor. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Check the load against invoices before signing it out
Manage your assistant on the truck and share the offloading
Operate the truck-mounted crane to offload bricks or pallets
Check the truck's oil, water, tyres and lights before leaving
Fill in the trip sheet with kilometres, fuel and stops
Deliver to shops, sites and homes on your route
Get signed invoices back to the office at the end of each day

What you need

Good knowledge of roads in and around the city
At least 2 years driving rigid trucks
Clean driving record
Valid Code 10 (C1) licence
Honest with cash and customer goods
Friendly and professional with customers

Helpful, not essential

Experience on a sales-and-delivery route
Crane or HIAB operator certificate
Code 14 licence (a step up)
