Code 10 Driver (Waste Collection Truck) – Fixed-Term

You'll run local delivery routes around Pietermaritzburg for a furniture retailer, dropping 10 to 20 stops a day. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Pietermaritzburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Report damaged goods or refused deliveries straight away
• Manage your assistant on the truck and share the offloading
• Fill in the trip sheet with kilometres, fuel and stops
• Deliver to shops, sites and homes on your route
• Get signed invoices back to the office at the end of each day
• Check the load against invoices before signing it out

• At least 2 years driving rigid trucks
• Clean driving record
• Good knowledge of roads in and around the city
• Honest with cash and customer goods
• Valid Code 10 (C1) licence

• Speaking local languages on township routes
• Experience on a sales-and-delivery route
• Code 14 licence (a step up)

• Overtime on month-end and peak days
• Company-paid PrDP renewals
• Delivery incentive per completed route
• Home every night

• If your PrDP expires soon, renew it before applying. An expired PrDP is an automatic no.
• Mention cash handling if you have done COD deliveries. Honest cash drivers are what distributors worry about most.
