Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

The road is your office with a cross-border transport company based in Centurion, and the load gets there because of you. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Centurion-based, with most of your time spent at a cross-border transport company.

• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Medically fit, including eyesight

• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
