Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cross-border transport company in Pinetown is hiring. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a cross-border transport company on the Pinetown side of KwaZulu-Natal. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Clean criminal record

• Defensive driving course
• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Dangerous goods training certificate

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
