Code 14 Car Carrier Driver

You'll move heavy loads between Richards Bay and depots across the country for a coal haulage contractor. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Richards Bay. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

• Defensive driving course
• Knowledge of SADC border routes
• Dangerous goods training certificate

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
