Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a bus and coach operator in Pietermaritzburg. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Matric
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Good with Excel and email
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Previous truck driving experience
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
