Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a long-haul freight fleet in Cape Town CBD is hiring. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Cape Town CBD. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads

Must-haves

Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Passport for cross-border routes
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Clean criminal record

Extra points for

Knowledge of SADC border routes
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Defensive driving course
