Code 14 Driver (Regional Night Runs)

The road is your office with a fuel distribution fleet based in Hammarsdale, and the load gets there because of you. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a fuel distribution fleet in Hammarsdale. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip

• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Clean criminal record
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Defensive driving course
• Clean record on a telematics driving score

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
