Code 14 Driver (Regional Night Runs)

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a fuel distribution fleet in Klerksdorp is hiring. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Klerksdorp; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks

• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

• Defensive driving course
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
