Job Description

The road is your office with a long-haul freight fleet based in Somerset West, and the load gets there because of you. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a long-haul freight fleet on the Somerset West side of Western Cape. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What your day looks like

Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

Must-haves

Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Passport for cross-border routes
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

Helpful, not essential

Dangerous goods training certificate
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Knowledge of SADC border routes
