Code 14 Flatdeck Driver (Steel Loads)

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cold-chain logistics fleet in George is hiring. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is George-based, with most of your time spent at a cold-chain logistics fleet. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Clean criminal record
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents

• Clean record on a telematics driving score
• Defensive driving course

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
