Code 14 Flatdeck Driver (Steel Loads) – Experienced

You'll move heavy loads between Umhlanga and depots across the country for a coal haulage contractor. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll report in Umhlanga. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
