Job Description

The road is your office with a fuel distribution fleet based in Centurion, and the load gets there because of you. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a fuel distribution fleet in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

  • Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
  • Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
  • Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
  • Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
  • Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
  • Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

You'll need

  • Clean criminal record
  • At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
  • Clean driving record with no serious accidents
  • Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Nice if you have

  • Clean record on a telematics driving score
  • Dangerous goods training certificate
  • Knowledge of SADC border routes

What you get

  • Paid PrDP renewal
  • Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
  • Provident fund and medical aid option

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Centurion really suit you before you apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: passport copy for cross-border work plus dangerous goods certificate if you have one.
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Centurion.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

  • List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
  • Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
