Code 14 Interlink Driver (Cross-Border)

You'll move heavy loads between Durban Central and depots across the country for a coal haulage contractor. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The site is in Durban Central; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads

• Clean criminal record
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

• Clean record on a telematics driving score
• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Paid PrDP renewal

• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
