Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a long-haul freight fleet in Epping is hiring. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Epping (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot

What you need

Clean criminal record
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Passport for cross-border routes
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of SADC border routes
Defensive driving course
