Code 14 Refrigerated Truck Driver

You'll move heavy loads between George and depots across the country for a cross-border transport company. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a cross-border transport company in George. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip

• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks

• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
