Job Description

Long hours, clean record, safe arrival every time: that is what a cross-border transport company in Pietermaritzburg pays for. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a cross-border transport company in Pietermaritzburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

What you need

Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
Clean criminal record
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Passport for cross-border routes
Clean driving record with no serious accidents

Extra points for

Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Clean record on a telematics driving score
