Job Description

Long hours, clean record, safe arrival every time: that is what a long-haul freight fleet in Rustenburg pays for. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

You'll be based at a long-haul freight fleet in Rustenburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

What you need

At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Passport for cross-border routes
Medically fit, including eyesight
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Extra points for

Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Knowledge of SADC border routes
