Job Description

The road is your office with a long-haul freight fleet based in Fourways, and the load gets there because of you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The site is in Fourways; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

What you need

Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Medically fit, including eyesight
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Nice if you have

Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Defensive driving course
Knowledge of SADC border routes
