Code 14 Side Tipper Driver (Coal Haulage)

You'll move heavy loads between Pietermaritzburg and depots across the country for a fuel distribution fleet. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The work is in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents

• Defensive driving course
• Clean record on a telematics driving score
• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)

• Paid PrDP renewal
• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
