Code 14 Tanker Driver (Hazchem) – Experienced

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cold-chain logistics fleet in Umlazi is hiring. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The site is in Umlazi; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips

• Passport for cross-border routes
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Medically fit, including eyesight

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Provident fund and medical aid option
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
