Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a coal haulage contractor in Pretoria East is hiring. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Pretoria East (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks

You'll need

Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of SADC border routes
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Defensive driving course
