Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a cross-border transport company in Cape Town CBD is hiring. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a cross-border transport company in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

  • Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
  • Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
  • Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
  • Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
  • Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
  • Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

What you need

  • Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
  • At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
  • Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
  • Medically fit, including eyesight
  • Clean criminal record

What you get

  • Provident fund and medical aid option
  • Paid PrDP renewal
  • Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: dangerous goods certificate if you have one, reference letters from previous transport companies plus Code 14 licence card and PrDP (both sides copied).
  3. Fill in the short form below with your name and a phone number you actually answer.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 5 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Cape Town CBD.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
  • Put your licence code, PrDP expiry date and years on Code 14 in the first three lines. Transport managers scan for those first.
