Job Description

The road is your office with a fuel distribution fleet based in Richards Bay, and the load gets there because of you. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a fuel distribution fleet in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

What you need

Clean criminal record
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Medically fit, including eyesight
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Passport for cross-border routes
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Helpful, not essential

Defensive driving course
Knowledge of SADC border routes
Clean record on a telematics driving score
