Code 14 Tanker Driver (Hazchem)

You'll move heavy loads between Welkom and depots across the country for a cross-border transport company. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Welkom; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes

• Clean record on a telematics driving score

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
