Job Description

Experienced Code 14 drivers are in short supply, and a long-haul freight fleet in Durban Central is hiring. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a long-haul freight fleet on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal.

What your day looks like

Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

Must-haves

Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Clean criminal record

Helpful, not essential

Clean record on a telematics driving score
Defensive driving course
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
