Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance) – Fixed-Term

You'll move heavy loads between Mamelodi and depots across the country for a fuel distribution fleet. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Mamelodi, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts

• Clean criminal record
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks

• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Clean record on a telematics driving score

• Overnight and subsistence allowance on trips
• Paid PrDP renewal
• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
