Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance)

The road is your office with a coal haulage contractor based in Springs, and the load gets there because of you. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a coal haulage contractor in Springs. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
• Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Clean criminal record
• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Clean driving record with no serious accidents
• Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

• Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
• Dangerous goods training certificate
• Knowledge of SADC border routes

• Provident fund and medical aid option

• Monthly safe-driving and fuel-saving bonus
• Paid PrDP renewal

• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
• List the trailer types and routes you have done, for example "tautliner, JHB to Durban, 4 years".
