Coded Welder (6G, ASME IX)

The trailer and truck body builder in Kariega needs a coded welder who can hold a WPS and deliver clean, sound joints. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Kariega, Eastern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Grind and repair welds flagged by the QC inspector
• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns
• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging

• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one

• Duplex or chrome-moly welding experience
• SAIW welding inspector course, even at Level 1
• Experience on structural work to AWS D1.1

• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Coding renewals paid by the employer
