Coded Welder (Pressure Vessels) – Experienced

You'll cut, fit and weld steel to drawing in a busy structural steel fabrication workshop in Boksburg. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Location: Boksburg, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns
• Weld carbon steel pipe in the 6G position using GTAW root and SMAW fill
• Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
• Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing

• Willing to work shutdowns, long shifts and weekends when the plant is down
• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying

• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Coding renewals paid by the employer

• If you have worked shutdowns, name the type of plant, like refinery or sugar mill. It proves you know the site rules.
• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
