Coded Welder (Pressure Vessels)

The pressure vessel manufacturer in Rosslyn needs a coded welder who can hold a WPS and deliver clean, sound joints. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Rosslyn (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns
• Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging

• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs

• Experience on structural work to AWS D1.1
• Orbital or automatic welding experience

• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Coding renewals paid by the employer
• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns

• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
• If you have worked shutdowns, name the type of plant, like refinery or sugar mill. It proves you know the site rules.
