Cold Room Assistant (Fruit Export)

Packing season at an avocado packhouse near Kathu means lots of shifts and lots of work. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Kathu, Northern Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
• Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
• Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves
• Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures

• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Able to stand at a line for long shifts
• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays

• Previous packhouse work
• Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.

• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
• Protective clothing supplied
• Transport from nearby towns
