Collections Paralegal (Debt Recovery) – Immediate Start

You'll keep the attorneys at a debt collection practice in Epping organised, on time and ready for court. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The site is in Epping; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Prepare fee notes and draft invoices for review
• Collate and index court bundles and discovery files
• Prepare section 129 notices and default judgment applications
• Type and format letters, notices and affidavits from dictation or drafts
• Manage the attorney's diary and book consultations
• Open new matters and do conflict checks on the practice system
• Collect documents for estates, such as death certificates and bank statements

• Fast, accurate typing and strong Word formatting
• Discreet with confidential client information
• Matric plus a legal secretary or paralegal qualification
• Organised under pressure from several attorneys
• At least 2 years in a law firm or legal department
• Understanding of court rules and deadlines

• NCR debt counsellor course
• Audio typing at 60+ words per minute

• Office hours with no weekend work
• Close-to-transport offices in city centres
• Study assistance for LLB or paralegal courses

• Name the legal software and the type of matters you handled in the first lines of your CV.
• Include your typing speed; many firms test it on the day of the interview.
