Colour Mixer (Automotive Refinish)

You'll bring accident-damaged cars back to factory standard at the fleet repair centre in Fourways. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a fleet repair centre in Fourways. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
• Repair dents with hammers, dollies and a stud welder
• Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
• Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
• Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor

• Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
• Good colour vision and a steady hand
• A portfolio or references from previous body shops
• Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use
• Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards

• Aluminium and high-strength steel repair training
• Experience as a workshop controller in a body shop
• Measuring jig and electronic measuring experience

• Before-and-after photos are your best proof. Keep them on your phone, ready to show at the interview.
