Colour Mixer (Automotive Refinish)

You'll bring accident-damaged cars back to factory standard at the independent panel shop in Johannesburg CBD. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The site is in Johannesburg CBD; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor
• Strip damaged panels, bumpers and trims and bag the fixings
• Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig
• Mix paint colours with a spectrophotometer and the mixing scheme
• Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth
• Repair dents with hammers, dollies and a stud welder
• Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods

• Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use
• A portfolio or references from previous body shops
• Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems
• Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
• Good colour vision and a steady hand
• Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards

• Aluminium and high-strength steel repair training
• Measuring jig and electronic measuring experience

• Full respirator and spray suit supplied
