Commercial Electrician (Shopfitting & Retail)

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the office park maintenance team in Roodepoort. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Roodepoort, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations
• Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language

• Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations

• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
• Company bakkie for call-outs and travel between sites

• If you have issued CoCs before, say how many and for what type of property.
• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
