Job Description

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the shopfitting and retail fit-out firm in Fourways. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a shopfitting and retail fit-out firm on the Fourways side of Gauteng. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment

What you need

At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Valid Code 08 driver's licence

Helpful, not essential

N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test
Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
Working at Heights certificate still in date
