Commercial Plumber (New Builds)

Plumbing work that keeps Umhlanga homes and buildings running: this insurance repair contractor needs a trade-tested plumber. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Umhlanga-based, with most of your time spent at an insurance repair contractor. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Clear blocked drains with a rodding machine and inspect lines with a drain camera
• Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
• Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
• Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
• Fit toilets, basins, showers and mixers to the client's chosen finishes
• Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations

• Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
• Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
• PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
• Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
• At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements

• SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
• Drain camera and high-pressure jetting experience
• Heat pump and solar geyser installation experience

• Paid PIRB renewal fee
• Cellphone allowance for job updates and photos
• Fully stocked service van with a fuel card

• Mention how many geyser replacements you do in a normal month. It is the number most plumbing managers ask about.
• Put your PIRB number at the top of your CV. Insurance contractors check it before they read anything else.
