Construction General Worker (Building Site)

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a road rehabilitation project in Mossel Bay. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a road rehabilitation project in Mossel Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Clear rubble and load it into skips
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Grade 8 or higher
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Paid weekly or fortnightly

• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
• Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
