Construction Health and Safety Agent

The high-rise residential project in Epping needs a safety officer who is on the site, not stuck in the container office. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Epping (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work

• You write clear reports in English
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• Fall protection planner training

• Travel and site allowances
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Laptop and data for reporting

• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
