Construction Health and Safety Officer (SACPCMP)

Safety files, inspections and toolbox talks: this building contractor in Atlantis needs someone who can do all three well. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Atlantis. Relocation is not covered for this one. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily

• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• You write clear reports in English
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites

• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• Diploma in Safety Management
• Fall protection planner training

• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Travel and site allowances

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Put your SACPCMP registration number and category first. Many CVs without it are rejected without being read.
