Excavator Operator (20-Ton, Bulk Earthworks)

Real machine hours on real projects, with the road construction contractor working in and around Brackenfell. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Brackenfell. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Watch for underground services and follow the banksman's signals
• Cut and trim road layers to level with the grader
• Park the machine on level ground and lock it when you knock off
• Do the pre-start checklist on your machine before the first bucket
• Compact layers with the roller until density tests pass

• Can read grade pegs and understand cut and fill
• Valid Code 10 licence for moving machines on public roads
• Good depth perception and no history of machine accidents
• Operator certificate for the machine class, from an accredited training provider

• Certificates on more than one machine type
• GPS machine control experience on excavators or graders

• Camp accommodation or a living-out allowance on remote sites
• Overtime paid on all hours past 45 a week
• Refresher training on new machines
• Travel home paid at the end of each site shift cycle

• List each machine with its size, for example "20-ton excavator, 4 years". Plant managers match you to the machine they need.
• Put your operator certificate numbers on the CV. Site safety files need them before you start.
