Job Description

Here you run the site: labour, materials, quality and progress for the civil engineering contractor in Gqeberha. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance

What you need

Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
