Construction Manager (Mid-Rise Buildings) – Immediate Start

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the civil engineering contractor in Paarl. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Paarl, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent

• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Concrete technology short course
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate

• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Cellphone and laptop supplied
