Job Description

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the civil engineering contractor in Pinetown. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a civil engineering contractor in Pinetown. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages

What you need

Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
