Job Description

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the municipal infrastructure project in Umhlanga. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Umhlanga (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily
Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent

You'll need

Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
First Aid Level 1 at least
SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites
Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014

Extra points for

Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
Diploma in Safety Management
Fall protection planner training
