Job Description

Good, straight work gets noticed on this school construction project in Polokwane, and so does turning up every day. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Polokwane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

The work, day to day

Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear
Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer

What you need

Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
Willing to move between sites in the same city
Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
Punctual every morning, even in winter
