Job Description

If you run a machine safely and hit your cycle times, this open-pit manganese mine near Thohoyandou will keep you busy. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Thohoyandou, Limpopo. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump

You'll need

Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
