Contracts Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Builds)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Sandton. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Sandton-based, with most of your time spent at a civils and earthworks contractor.

• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Hybrid days in the office and on site
• Study support for an honours degree
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses

• List projects with their contract value and whether you worked for the client side or the contractor side.
